About me

My name is Thomas Hammer. I live in Tønsberg, Norway with my wife and two kids. I can be reached by email to h [at] mmer [dot] no.

I have a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

In 1994, I was one of the founders of “Norsk Simulator Senter”, later “Systems in Motion” (makers of the Coin 3D Graphics Toolkit), now a part of Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies, where I am currently a project manager and senior developer working on visualizing data in the Oil, Gas and Marine domain.


  • Sports & out-door activities: Bicycling, in-door and out-door climbing, longer cross-country skiing and hiking trips, spending nights in snow caves and tents at higher altitudes.
  • Sound and music: I’m a sound engineer for the KorX choir, and do sporadic work as a sound engineer for other concerts and arrangements. I enjoy recording and mixing shows, as well as playing and creating music on my own. The Music page has some more information.
  • Software programming: I enjoy doing small private projects involving sound, MIDI-controllers and mobile devices.
